Hello everyone,
I’m Carl Harrison, a seasoned tobacco industry expert, and this is my personal space to share my experiences, insights, and knowledge that I’ve acquired over a fascinating career in the world of tobacco. Currently residing in the beautiful country of Scotland, I find myself nestled within the UK’s rich history and legacy of tobacco, whisky, and incredible highland landscapes.
I started my journey as a young agricultural researcher with Philip Morris International in the United States, where my work centered on tobacco leaf quality improvement and sustainable farming methods. It was an enriching experience, to say the least, and I got my first taste of the complexities of the tobacco industry.
After that, I moved to the UK and joined Imperial Brands PLC, where I worked on product development and commercial strategy. It was here that I had the privilege of being part of the team that developed the globally popular “Golden Virginia Rolling Tobacco.” This endeavor won us the prestigious “Product of the Year” award at the annual Global Tobacco & Nicotine Forum, a recognition that I hold close to my heart.
Throughout my career, I have been incredibly lucky to witness and be a part of some significant shifts in the tobacco industry. From traditional smoking products to the revolutionary rise of harm reduction technologies like e-cigarettes and heated tobacco products, the landscape has changed considerably. I’m particularly proud of my involvement in research into reducing harmful chemicals in tobacco products and advocating for responsible tobacco use.
Away from work, I indulge in my passion for nature photography. Scotland’s breathtaking landscapes make for the perfect muse, and there’s something uniquely satisfying about capturing a moment that encapsulates the raw, unedited beauty of Mother Nature. I also love hiking, which dovetails nicely with my photography hobby.
